Wellington Boot

One of the biggest events of Country Racing, The Wellington Boot will again be a highlight of TAB Saddle-Up Sundays program. First run in 1981, ‘The Boot, as it is known has taken on a life of its own attracting huge crowds and even celebrities over the years.

Wellington will come alive for the Wellington Boot Racing Carnival, held over the weekend of March 22nd and 23rd 2014. It is Sunday’s Boot that you won’t want to miss!

With entertainment for the little ones, fantastic racing for punters and plenty of competitions on track, there’s something for everyone.

The 34th running of the event is going to be bigger and better than ever!

It all Begins
At the Wellington Race Club on Saturday, 22 March 2013. Get your heart racing when the barriers open the first time for the weekend! Stake your claim on a prime location near the winning post and cheer on one of the favourites. Don’t miss your chance to meet trainers and future stars of the track when Racing NSW gives you an insider’s view of owning a racehorse!

Head to the Calcutta
Follow the crowds to the Wellington RSL and join in the fun of the time honoured Calcutta tradition! This year hosted by racing and rugby league legends, Miracle Mal Johnson and Max Krilich  

Be Crowned Miss Wellington Boot
To become Miss Wellington Boot all you have to do is draw a number in the feature race at the Wellington RSL Calcutta and the lucky girl who draws the winning horse will be crowned Miss Wellington Boot – it’s that easy!

The Day we’ve all Been Waiting for
Here it is – the 2014 Wellington Boot race day, Sunday 23 March, featuring the $100,000 Wellington Boot! If you thought the first day of the carnival was action packed, saddle-up because you are in for the ride of your life!

Win a Yearling
You could be the lucky winner of the Casino Prince filly Yearling Raffle. Here by popular demand, punters can purchase a raffle ticket and go into the running to win a Magic Millions Yearling which will be drawn at the TAB Saddle-Up Sunday Wellington Boot.

Starting planning your winning outfit for the highly coveted Wellington Race Club Fashions-on-the-Field competition. There is a category for everyone so why not give it a go? Sponsored by Wild Oates Wines, there is fantastic prize money to be won by the most fashionable contenders in the following categories:

Take a break from all of the trackside action and head over to the Cactus Café and Wellington Gallery VIP Ladies Marquee.
Feeling fancy? Don’t miss out the Oysters and Champagne Bar.
There are marquees available for hire so get together with a few friends or work group and start planning an unforgettable day, but you better be quick!

Make tracks to Country NSW

Explore the unique Central Western district of New South Wales. Wellington is a 4.5hr scenic drive from Sydney and is located where the Macquarie and Bell Rivers meet at the foot of Mount Arthur. Don’t want to drive? There are regular train and coach services to Wellington Valley. You could also fly in to Dubbo and catch a bus transfer to Wellington.

There’s more to see

Whilst visiting Wellington you can’t go past the famous unique cave complex, see the Cathedral Cave and admire one of the largest stalagmites in the world. Take a trip to the Burrendong Arboretum Botanic Gardens but keep an eye out for the emus. Alternatively, take a break from the rat race and enjoy a relaxing picnic by the banks of Lake Burrendong. Only a short drive from Wellington is the famous Dubbo Zoo or you can sample the delectable food and wine of nearby Mudgee.
